  • Three Marine Rescue NSW members honoured for distinguished service
  • June 13, 2016

Three members of MRNSW have been awarded the prestigious Emergency Services Medal in today’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Marine Rescue Jervis Bay Training Systems Officer and former Director Tony Drover, Mid North Coast Regional Director and Marine Rescue Forster-Tuncurry member John Lynch and Marine Rescue Alpine Lakes Unit Commander Les Threlfo are the latest recipients of the award.

The ESM is presented to recognise distinguished service by members of the emergency services.

Commissioner Stacey Tannos ESM congratulated the trio, who have contributed a combined total of 39 years’ service to volunteer marine rescue.

“These awards are a valuable opportunity for our nation to thank these volunteers for their commitment and the contribution they make to the safety and wellbeing of the boating community,” he said.

“These members are a credit to our organisation. Along with all their fellow volunteers in Marine Rescue NSW, they deserve our thanks and praise for their service, through which they demonstrate the finest characteristics of the Australian volunteering ethos.”
