Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of the Hunter River at Raymond Terrace for the safe staging of power boat races.

Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence to the Raymond Terrace Aquatic Club to host the event between 9am and 5.30pm on Sunday 14 February.

An event area will be established on the river between the Fitzgerald Bridge and the prolongation of Swan Street.

The event area will be marked by inflatable buoys and monitored by control vessels.

Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the marked area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.

Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
