  • CHANGED BOATING CONDITIONS ON NEWCASTLE HARBOUR FOR NYE FIREWORKS
  • December 24, 2015
Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of Newcastle Harbour on Thursday 31 December for the safe staging of the New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence to Outdoor Cinema Company to host the event on the Harbour between 8.45pm and 9.15pm.

Vessel operators should avoid the area within a radius of 200 metres of the event area at Dyke Point. Control vessels will monitor the area.

Skippers are advised vessels not involved in the event should not enter event area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.

Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
