Boaters are reminded to keep clear of a section of the Hawkesbury River between Lower Portland and Leets Vale this Sunday 6 December for the safe staging of waterski races.

Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for a waterskiing event on the river between 10am and 5pm, weather permitting.

An event area will be established on the Hawkesbury River from Cliftonville Lodge Resort at Lower Portland to near the Leetsvale Caravan and Recreational Park.

The event area will be marked with inflatable buoys and monitored by control vessels.

Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the marked area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.

Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in vessels smaller than 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
