A man has been rescued from an overturned boat and another was lucky to escape injury after his fishing boat slammed into rocks in separate incidents on the NSW south coast on Monday.

Marine Rescue NSW has warned boaties on the south coast to take extreme caution on local bars after one man was rescued in rough conditions off Batemans Bay.

The man's stalled boat overturned on the Batemans Bay bar early on Monday morning as Marine Rescue attempted to reach it .

The skipper radioed Marine Rescue for help just after 7am after the boat, a small fibre-glass runabout, lost power.
