  • MR Coffs Harbour leads the way in Easter Classic
  • April 01, 2015

Marine Rescue Coffs Harbour’s new rescue vessel will be at the head of the fleet when the Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club 2015 Easter Fishing Classic kicks off this Friday morning.

In its first appearance at the popular fishing tournament, Coffs 30 - a $362,000 Naiad RHIB delivered in late 2014 - will lead the boats out of the Harbour for the start of competition at 6am on Good Friday.

The competition runs continuously until noon on Easter Sunday, with the MR Coffs Harbour radio base handling all the Classic radio traffic, usually from more than 70 participating boats.

After competition closes, the action begins at the Charity Fish Auction, with the proceeds donated to the Marine Rescue unit.

The unit runs the auction of fish donated by competitors and cleaned over many hours by its volunteers.

Everyone is welcome at the auction so if you’re in Coffs, make sure you drop by to bid on your Easter Sunday dinner and donate to a great cause!
