A 40ft steel-hulled yacht travelling up the NSW coastline alerted Marine Rescue Ulladulla yesterday morning that it was experiencing engine problems and was only able to travel at 1-2 knots under sail.

As the yacht approached Ulladulla, night watch Radio Operator Terry Campion, followed by morning Duty Radio Operator Frank Van Der Zwet, provided radio assistance and support to the skipper and passenger on board.

Skipper, Unit Commander Ken Lambert, and crew members Brian Clayton, Allan Brook (pictured) and Lisa Hardwick, departed Ulladulla at 11am on board Ulladulla 30, locating the vessel about 1.5 nautical miles south east of Ulladulla Harbour and towing it to safety by noon.

“A job well done by the crew,” UC Lambert said.
