The Lake Macquarie Marine Rescue group is the busiest in NSW.

Last year they helped over 400 people in need, whether they were stuck out on the ocean with a broken down motor or were managing something far more serious.

Roger Evans, Deputy Unit Commander of Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie, volunteers his time to make sure you're safe on the lake and out to sea.

He shares the triumphs and tragedies of his role.
