  • Camera a bonus for Marine Rescue Iluka-Yamba
  • March 19, 2014

Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis recently presented members of Marine Rescue Iluka-Yamba with one of 70 GoPro cameras funded by the State Government.

Mr Gulaptis handed the camera to (from left) Deputy Unit Commander Bruce Bodsworth, Unit Commander Doug Luckie and Coxswain Frank Bond.

UC Luckie said the camera would provide a great opportunity to create awareness of Marine Rescue’s operations and the assistance members provided the boating community.

The $30,000 suite of rescue and training cameras funded by the Government is being rolled out to help Marine Rescue NSW volunteers protect boaters.

NSW Police and Emergency Services Minister Michael Gallacher said the operational footage from the cameras, which would be installed on the frontline rescue fleet, would be invaluable in providing members with realistic training scenarios and rescue debriefings.

“There are always lessons to be learned in a process of continual improvement and this vision will be of significant value in helping volunteers learn from their colleagues’ experience,” he said.
