Boaters Logging On and Logging Off with the MarineRescue app using an Apple device should check the version of the Apple operating system (iOS) running on their phone or tablet.

Apple has just released new version, iOS 11.2.5.

iOS is a mobile operating system, developed by Apple Inc. for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Updates for iOS are released through the iTunes software, and, since iOS 5, via over-the-air software updates.

To check which iOS version is running on a device, go to Settings (General: About).

Changes to the way iOS integrated with Google Maps in Appleā€™s releases of iOS 11 through to 11.2 have affected the operation of the MarineRescue app, freezing the application when a boater uses the map function to select a start point or destination.

Apple has addressed this issue with the release of updated versions (above 11.2).

This issue does not affect earlier versions of iOS (up to iOS 11) and it has been rectified with the later iOS releases above 11.2.

Upgrading your device to the latest iOS version is the simplest way to address this issue.
