  • December 19, 2016

Marine Rescue NSW has rescued a man who sustained a suspected red back spider bite at The Basin at Broken Bay, north of Sydney.

Broken Bay Water Police called MRNSW at 3:20 PM and asked for assistance.

Marine Rescue NSW deployed Hawkesbury 22 a fast rigid hulled inflatable boat.

The skipper was Joh Vos and the crew Jameson York and Brad Atkin.

The patient was a man in his twenties holidaying with his girlfriend.

They were rushed to Palm Beach Ferry Wharf where police and an ambulance crew were waiting.

The vessel reached the wharf at 3:40 PM.

Marine Rescue NSW Regional Operations Manager Glenn Evans thanked the volunteers involved for a job well done.

“It was a great response from the crew who were completing training at Scotland Island,” he said.

“Volunteers on board the vessel Broken Bay 30 also attended in support.”
