  • Veteran rescue vessel retired after 17 years service in Port Stephens
  • August 11, 2016

MARINE Rescue Port Stephens has officially farewelled the trusty Danial Thain at the end of 17 year’s service.

A ceremony was held at Soldiers Point Marina now the John Thompson (PS31) and Codi KII (PS30) have taken over duty.

“Whilst it is very sad to see such an outstanding rescue vessel retired and offered for sale, its replacement PS31 John Thompson provides a vessel capable of over 30 knots to enable emergencies offshore to be reached far quicker so that Marine Rescue Port Stephens can fulfil its task of saving lives on the water,” Unit Commander, Colin Cahill said.
